Bwerere is committed in protecting your privacy and any personal information we collect. Below is a description of the kind of data that the use of Bwerere App will collect, how we use it, and your rights to that effect.

Bwerere as a Service and Platform: Bwerere is a mobile application offering a platform for buying and selling goods. The service extends to the website at Bwerere and any other products, addon services, and functions that the application and its related websites provide to you. In the context below, Service is all the features and use cases as shall be provided by Bwerere as a platform.

I. Ownership of Bwerere

Bwerere is a product of Backtude Limited incorporated in The Kenyan Republic, and our registered address is: 5035 00100 Ngong Road, Nairobi. Backtude Limited is the entity responsible to the collection, storage, and use of your personal data collected through our Services.

II. Information collected by the Bwerere Application

Bwerere collects personal information as stipulated below for the sole purpose of providing the Services and operate our Platform. We also use the information we collect to improve our Services. The information we collect and how we collect it is set out below.

1. Information you provide to us through direct interactions with our Platform

When registering to use bwerere, you may be asked to provide the following:

• e-mail address;
• mobile telephone number;
• geographic location;
• profile picture;
• Your Names;
• Facebook, Google account details and
• any other social accounts information.

Please note that phone number, social account provided information and your profile picture will be made available to other users and the public when you use some of our Services. For example, when you post a product some of your information will be available to bwerere users.

• Information we collect from you automatically when you use our Services

When you use Bwerere, the following is automatically collected:

1. Device Information. Operating system version, device model and name of the mobile network that you are using.
2. Location information. Device location for every item posted.
3. Usage Information. Information on the items your visit and the items you post.
4. Cookies. If you access bwerere.com, we use cookies to collect the date and time of your visit, your browsing history, your preferences, and your location.
5. Analytics. We use Google Analytics, which uses cookies and similar technologies to collect and analyze information about use our bwerere application and report on activities and trends. See more on Google’s practices by going to their website.
6. Information we collect from Postings and Chat Messages

All chats are stored in our cloud Servers. We do not use the information on the chat whatsoever except to display to you and your chatting partner in the chat history.

III. The purposes for collecting your personal information

Below is a description of the ways we use your personal information.

• Providing access and delivering Services through our Bwerere

We use the information you provide to provide the following services:

1. Login details – email, phone number to identify your identity and give you access to the platform
2. Your names from Google or Facebook account, are displayed on your profile to ensure your identity to other platform users.
3. If you log in using your phone number, we use your phone number as your username.
4. We use your location to assign the default language as well as identify the default listed item location.
5. Improving your experience on the Platform

We use the information you provide to improve your experience on Bwerere including:

1. We use location data to:
   1. Offer you tailored content, such as giving you more relevant search results in relation to your location.
2. We use your personal data for the following purposes:
   1. To compile the characteristics and behaviour of bwerere users, for the purposes of business analysis, segmentation and development of product profiling and segmentation.
   2. To SMS verify your telephone number and verify your identity.

IV. Sharing your Personal Information

We may share your personal information with the parties

• Third Party Vendors and Service Providers: We share your data with third party vendors and other service providers that help us deliver certain aspects of our Services. Such as Google analytics
• Advertisers: Merchants who may want to have targeted product listing.
• Analytics Providers: In order to improve our Services, we will sometimes share your non-identifiable information with analytics providers that help us analyze how people are using our Services.
• Law Enforcement Authorities: We may disclose your data, including your personal information, to law enforcement authorities as shall be guided by the underlying local laws.
• Publicly Available Information: Any information shared from bwerere to other public platforms shall be guided by the third-party platform privacy policies. Backtude will not be liable for such information.

V.  Communication and Marketing

We may communicate with you by email or in-app notification in connection with our Services to confirm your registration, to inform you in case your product listing has become live/expired and for other transactional messages in relation to our Services. By using bwerere, you accept to receive such communications. The platform shall provide a mechanism to opt out of such communications. However, if your account is active, we shall continue after opting out to inform you of non-marketing communications such as correspondence about your relationship with us, information about transactions, or notifying you of updates to our Privacy Notices or Terms of Use.

VI. Your Rights

You may have rights under local (country of use) data protection laws in relation to your personal information. If you are concerned about your data you have the right to request access to the personal data which we may hold or process about you. You have the right to require us to correct any discrepancies in your data. You can also require us to stop using your personal data upon which your account will be disabled.

We may amend this privacy policy from time to time. We will post changes on this page and will let you know through e-mail or other reasonable means.

From the app, go to Settings, Account Settings (Manage your Account) and click at the bottom of the page Delete Account (be sure to read confirm the deletion request) Fill in the Account Data Deletion Form below.
